This thetelegraph piece gives insight into what it’s like growing up in one of the most dangerous countries in the world: Guatemala. Unicef Goodwill Ambassador Michael Sheen talks about his experiences with Guatemalan children like Kenneth, as they try their best to grow up under extreme circumstances. As Michael Sheen writes, “Every child has the right to be happy, to be safe and to be protected.” Read the whole story: http://goo.gl/JEaKpz

Who would have thought? Google Earth shows that cows across the world graze along the earth’s magnetic poles. We’ll have to ask the kids at the Flying Kites Home in Kenya about that tidbit. The 32 kids at the home benefit from our dairy cow project through daily milk to supplement their diets and by saving money from not buying milk from the market. The money the home saves goes towards the secondary education of the older children. Nutrition and education? Sounds like a recipe for success. http://goo.gl/QyngwV

Remember this? A #tbt to our Clean Water Project at the Fiwagoh Mission Home in Kenya that brought clean water access to the 200 children living there. Getting the kids clean water improved their overall health and reduced the risk of waterborne illnesses. It also saved the home $2,400 each year that was spent purchasing water from the city. This is change, not charity!

The kids at the Arias Home of Hope in Chennai, India, take their yoga very seriously! Any guesses on what pose they are going for here? We say they are getting ready for a “Virabhadrasana” pose. As part of our Little Lens Tuesdays, all of these photos are taken by the children themselves with a camera we left behind in 2013. The home houses around 30 HIV/AIDS positive children, and yoga is a great way for them to stay healthy and practice mind body balance. We are currently fundraising for a solar project at the home, please check it out on our site [link in bio] Namaste! #yoga #namaste #breathe #pose #healthy #fitness #workout #awareness #children #kids #cute #ohm #yogini #peace #zen #india #happy #getinvolved #giveback #change #impact #ngo #positive #inspire

Is this a zoolander face or what? As part of our “Little Lens” series, we are sharing photos that the children at the Arias Home of Hope take themselves, with a camera we left behind in 2013. Arias is home to 39 children, all HIV/AIDS positive. We are currently fundraising for a solar installation that will end up saving the home enough money to provide eggs and fruits to the children’s diets, crucial additions for their delicate health. Please visit our site to invest in their well being! [link in bio] Our “Little Lens” series will run every Tuesday, and from the pictures we are getting, it seems selfies are pretty popular with kids no matter where in the world! #selfie #zoolander #butfirst #face #cute #india #inspire #getinvolved #giveback #nutrition #health #HIV #AIDS #children #impact #change #photography #toocute #littlelens

#TBT to one of our very first projects, a pig farm at the A Better World Children’s Home in Cameroon. Since then we’ve done everything from solar panels, chicken coops, fish farms, and clean water projects, in 6 other countries, all designed to sustainably improve the quality of life for children living in orphanages. We can’t wait to share what we have planned for this year! #throwback #backintheday #cameroon #farming #sustainable #eco #giveback #africa #kids #pig #babes #inspire #change #impact

We met Tika during our research trip to India last year. She’s a spunky girl who has dreams of becoming a teacher, and her favorite color is pink. In general, orphan and vulnerable children living in orphanages are often portrayed as sad and hopeless cases, but this is simply not true. They are bright, funny, loving kids, no different from your own children, your nieces, nephews, neighbors, brothers, and sisters. It’s time the world starts seeing them as such, and realizing there is a lot to gain from investing in their well-being and potential.
